Verse of the Day

"Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone--especially to those in the family of faith." ~Galatians 6:10

Needless to say, we should do good to everyone we encounter, but especially to those in the family of faith. We should do good in every opportunity. In this text, Paul challenged the Galatians and he challenges us to keep on doing good and to trust God for the results. In due time, we will reap a harvest of blessings. Sometimes it is discouraging to continue to do right and receive no word of thanks or see no tangible results.

Luke 11:1-4

"Once when Jesus had been out praying, one of his disciples came to him as he finished and said, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." He said, "This is how you should pray:

         May your Kingdom come soon.
         Give us our food day by day.
         And forgive us our sins--
         just as we forgive those who have
         sinned against us.
         And don't let us yield to temptation."

Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy

Luke 9:37-43

"The next day, after they had come down the mountain, a huge crowd met Jesus. A man in the crowd called out to him,"Teacher, look at my boy, who is my only son. An evil spirit keeps seizing him, making him scream. It throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It is always hitting and injuring him. It hardly ever leaves him alone. I begged your disciples to cast the spirit out, but they couldn't do it."

"You stubbord, faithless people," Jesus said, "how long must I be with you and put up with you? Bring him here." As the boy came forward, the demon knocked him to the ground and threw him into a violent convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit and healed the boy. Then he gave him back to his father. Awe gripped the people as they saw this display of God's power."

Reflections and/or Testimonials: An Unforgettable and Frightening Day

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on August 2, 2011, I was in the midst of cooking breakfast and the phone rang as soon as I began to fry the eggs.  I didn't answer the phone at that moment because the eggs would have burned up. However, after I took the eggs from the skillet I looked on the caller ID and discovered that my mother had called. I dialed frantically to see what she wanted. I called at least 8-10 times and couldn't get her because obviously she didn't hear the phone. Finally, my mother called me and told me that her hearing was gone and she couldn't hear anything. So, immediately I put on my shoes in a flash. SaBria, one of the great grands said that she wanted to go with me to see how Snuke was doing, but when the other children didn't want to go then she changed her mind. I told her to follow her own mind next time no matter who goes or what is going on--"Do what you want to do."  I got in the car and went to my mother's house to check on her. She lives about 5 minutes from me.

I saw some typing paper and I began to converse with her by writing and asking her questions. She began to cry and said that this has never happened to her before. I wrote her a note and hugged her and told her that everything would be alright and it was a blessing to be alive and that we could always write notes. " She laughed." She asked me to play something on the piano to see if she could hear it. She said that she didn't hear my playing. She told me that she wouldn't be able to go with the choir that evening to Amazing Grace Deliverance Church because she didn't want people to be asking her questions and she couldn't hear them. I respected her wishes. She turned the television in the kitchen up very loud and she said that she could hear it faintly.

I talked to my daughter, Sonja, on the phone and asked her what to do? What kind of doctor did we need to take her to? So, after talking to Sonja she came to my mother's house where she did several phone calls to medical facilities and she also talked to my sisters. Immediately, when my sisters from Baton Rouge, LA heard this fate they said that they will be there Wednesday to be with her also. Oh what love my mother draws!!!  My daughter could not find anyone local to see my mother on Tuesday, but she did get an appointment for her for Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Mobile, Alabama at the Eye, Nose, and Ear doctor at 1:30 p.m.

I stayed with my mother at her house and did a few phone calls myself to let people know what was happening, plus I felt that she should not be left along because I did not know what was happening to her. It was now time for me to go and get dressed for Elder Georgia Nash Jackson's Revival Night at 7:00 p.m. in Pine Hill, Alabama and Epiphany Lutheran was the guest choir for Tuesday, August 2, 2011.  I didn't trust leaving my mother alone, so I brought her to my daughter's house until my younger sister picked her up.

Thursday came and we loaded up 2 vehicles and went to Mobile, Alabama.   I think that this was the first time that I've seen my mother with her hearing aid on, but she had them. She reported to two doctors--one was the medical doctor and the other one was the hearing doctor. The first doctor did a test and cleaned her ears. My mother said, "I thought I was going to have to stand up from that table." So I imagine that it was some pain. Afterwards, she went in to see the hearing doctor and hallelujah she came out and said that she could hear and the hearing aid was too loud. Praise the Lord!!!!!!   The family was real thankful to God and we went out to Logan's Restaurant and celebrated. Praise the Lord His Wonders to Perform!!!!

Reflections and/or Testimonials

August 1, 2011
Today, I prayed that I would find some important papers for the IRS. I went through several stacks of mail and I found what I needed. I said, "Thank you Jesus." I found one item or piece of mail that I needed and I looked for other information that I needed and soon my inner-spirit led me to everything that I needed. Again, "Thank you Lord." "Thank you Jesus." Then, about 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. I ate my first meal, my breakfast.

Three Bible Verses came to mind today:
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." ~Matthew 6:33
I meditated on this scripture for awhile.

Like a voice out of the wilderness, Proverbs 3:5-6 came to me and I was in tears because I thought about Al (my husband) when he was living. The scripture reads as follows: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths."

One time during Al's illness a situation developed where I felt that four walls were closing in on me and it seemed like it was nowhere to turn or go and out of nowhere came a phone call. I, later, referred to it as the phone call from "heaven." A lady on the other end of the phone said to me that she had an answer to my problems and she had just what I needed and ask me to come to Mobile and she would tell me about it. The end result was my husband being transferred to Daphne, AL where he spent the rest of his remaining days. He departed this life on August 25, 2006 at 4:45 a.m.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on thy own understanding." I didn't understand some things during Al's illness and I don't understand some things now such as why I haven't had my musical revelation yet. I know that it will happen because, I trust Jesus and I have a passion for music. Also, "He will direct my paths." My inner thoughts told me to write down my thoughts.

I have a passion for technology also. I was wondering what God wanted me to do with technology. He directed me to write down my thoughts. This is my first entry for Passion for Christ online.

Today, I also reflected on my mother's hearing. I got teary eyed again because I don't understand while she doesn't wear her hearing aid and she can't hear. Jesus is the door. He is also the key to my life.
